Joanna Kaliszewska is a digital archivist and collection manager, specializing in audiovisual heritage preservation. She has worked on building and adjusting FINA’s digital database and was responsible for the implementation of metadata standards for film and audiovisual collection in Polish National Film Archive and FINA.
She has experience with development of public and commercial solutions (DAM and MAM) for digital circulation and preservation processes. In 2020-2022 she has been leading FINA’s Digital Repository; from 2025 she has been serving as Head of Data and Digital Archive Department at FINA.

How can modern digital solutions be used effectively and in a controlled manner to support archival workflows aimed at preserving and securing knowledge about audiovisual collections? To what extent do AI-based solutions support (or potentially threaten) archival processes, and can they be considered a real and effective aid for modern-day archivists?
We will present the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute’s approach to implementing AI-based tools for digital preservation and discuss our path toward developing a better understanding of how AI can support archival processes.
