Topic summary
In this presentation, I will focus on copyright law not only as a set of constraints, but also as a legal framework that enables audiovisual archives to preserve works, provide access to collections and support certain forms of lawful reuse by researchers, educators and creators. I will briefly address the legal mechanisms that make this possible, including preservation-related exceptions, out-of-commerce works, orphan works, and the role of the public domain.
