Dave Rice is an archivist with a taste for the whimsical and a technologist with an affection for beauty and reason. His sympathies lie with independent media, community building and skill sharing, and with the desire to combine Open-Source Development and audiovisual preservation to its quixotic limits. He has been fortunate to gain expertise within organizations such as the City University of New York, Democracy Now, the United Nations, WITNESS, the Bay Area Video Coalition, and other wonderful spaces. A graduate of the Selznick School of Film Preservation, he is also impresario of the aptly titled No Time to Wait conference and a principal steward behind such projects as QCTools, DVRescue, MediaConch, BWF MetaEdit, and Vrecord. In short, he spends his days helping build the tools we need to delay the fleeting from vanishing altogether.
