Abstract / topic summary
Over the past thirty years, audiovisual broadcasting technologies have profoundly transformed media collection and preservation methods. The advent of fiber optics, falling storage costs, high definition, IP broadcasting, and the proliferation of channels have driven the evolution of the INA’s legal deposit infrastructure, shifting from a model based on the physical reception of videotapes to the continuous capture of digital streams.
This presentation will introduce the key technological shifts of this period, their impact on storage architectures and data volumes, and the technical challenges associated with preserving audiovisual heritage. It highlights tools developed by INA to support this transition within an increasingly digitized and distributed environment.
